Elmwood welcomes U.S. Rep. Jordan

By SKYLER MITCHELL STAFF WRITER

NEW BREMEN — The Elmwood Assisted Living of New Bremen welcomed a guest Tuesday in the form of U.S. Representative Jim Jordan.

The assisted living center was the site of a meeting of Jordan, his team and several other notable individuals that decided to come together. Starting at 11:45 a.m., the meeting was conducted until 12:15 p.m. where several topics were discussed.

“It’s nice to see a great facility here in our district and the wonderful care and environment they provide for their customers and families who live here,” Jordan said when asked why the center was chosen as the meeting place. “I always say that the founders in their wisdom wanted a House of Representatives to be the body closest to the people, and when you’re a representative, it’s hard to represent folks if you don’t go out in your district and see what’s going on.”

Jordan says that he plans on visiting other places in order to follow the

spirit of that saying. He claims that he enjoys it, especially considering the situation involving COVID.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss on the importance of assisted living, long-term care in the community and a large focus placed on funding, regulations and issues involving the workforce. Noted guests of the meeting were Elmwood Communities-Owner and CEO Kathy Hunt, Executive Director of Elmwood of New Bremen Kim Prueter, Ohio Assisted Living Association’s Executive Director Jean Thompson and Compliance Director Melissa Shanmugam.

A photo session was organized after the meeting on the front entrance to the facility.

On Tuesday, Jordan also visited Industrial Machine Service in Fort Loramie for a tour and held a question and answer session with the community and business leaders.
