April auxiliary meeting report

The Minster American Legion Auxiliary met at 7 p.m. on April 18.

President Deb Meyer opened the meeting using all of the standard rituals.

The committee chairmen gave their reports as follows: Buckeye Girls State delegate will be Natalie Hoying. There is a tea scheduled in New Knoxville for girls to attend and get information about things that will be happening this year at Buckeye Girls State. Fewer girls are being allowed to attend the conference and events will be planned according to state guidelines. Poppy days will be held the weekend of May 14 and 15. Poppies will be distributed at Wagner’s IGA and True Value Hardware. Members are encouraged to help to distribute and are to call Ann Ernst to schedule a time. The money intensions will be dispersed to veterans through the Dayton V.A. or the Lima Food Pantry. Members had a discussion on collecting food for the food pantry and will decide later when would be the best time to do this.

Our membership is at 56 members. If you would like to join contact President Deb or any member to see if you are eligible. There were no current bills to be paid. The May meeting will be a “carry-in” dinner. All members attending are to bring a covered dish to share and the auxiliary will supply the sandwiches and chips.

The members that have been nominated for office positions are: president: Deb Meyer; vice president: Ruth Brookhart; treasurer: Diana Hausfeld; and secretary: Diane Timmerman. Voting will take place next month. The green reports have been turned into their respected district chairman. Volunteer hours were less this year because no one could volunteer as much and fewer activities were held. We will be sending two delegates to the conventions this summer, one will be Ruth Brookhart and we are looking for a second person. If you would like to attend, let Deb know so you can get registered. The pot of gold was won by Alice Moorman and the meeting was ended with a prayer for peace.
