Minster golf earns 7th place finish at state

COLUMBUS — Minster earned a seventh place finish at the Division III boys state golf tournament.

The Wildcats tied with Manchester and Ottawa Hills following the two rounds of play on Friday and Saturday at the OSU Scarlet Course.

Hiland won the state title. Their team scores were: Brookston Hummel 149 (74-75); Carter Mishler 156 (77-79); Garrett Shoup 158 (78-80); and Kenny Weaver 161 (81-80) for a team score of The other player was Nathan Kline 170 (85-85).

Botkins finished in fourth place, with a 326 on Friday and 343 on Saturday for a total score of 669. Individual scores were: Ross Dietz 163 (77-86); Jameson Meyer 168 (85-83); Jack Dietz 170 (8189); Isaac Cisco 171 (86-85); and J.J. Meyer 172 (83-89).

Minster had a 357 in the first round on Friday. On Saturday, Mitchell Bornhorst shot 80, Nathan Beair also had 80, Louis Magoto had 83, and Jack Meyer had 96 for a team score of 339. Ray Purdy finished with a 96.

Columbus Academy won the boys Division II title by three shots over Archbishop Alter, 611 to 614.

Lima Central Catholic won the girls Division II title for the fourth straight year. The Lady Thunderbirds had a team score of 656. Fort Loramie finished seventh and Coldwater was ninth.

The Division I boys and girls state tournaments will be held this Friday and Saturday. The boys will be on the OSU Scarlet Course and the girls on the OSU Gray.
