St. Augustine holds Oktoberfest celebration mass

By SKYLER MITCHELL STAFF WRITER

The Minster Oktoberfest festivities were mostly action packed and involved plenty of activity from multiple ends, though there were some quiet moments for those celebrating the event.

Anyone that was present at the St. Augustine Church on Saturday was treated to an interesting sight where the people from all over visited for a celebration mass held at various points throughout the day. The mass was meant to honor Minster’s German heritage during the festival, with people meant to come in to the church at around 4 or 6 p.m.

The church was packed as families all from around the area packed the church, taking up the pews as church staff made sure everyone was comfortable. This included having to bring out more chairs so that people could participate in the proceedings.

The service and hymns were done in English and in German in order to celebrate their heritage, with pamphlets handed out so that the people could sing along. The service was held twice in order to give people a chance to participate while other festivities were ongoing.
