Minster athletes to compete at State Track Championship

TROY — Minster produced some outstanding performances at the regional meet for both the girls and boys teams at the regional meet. The Wildcats advanced several athletes to the OHSAA Division 3 State Track and Field Championships on June 2-3.

The Minster girls won the regional meet with 88 points. Fort Loramie finished second with 47.5 and Botkins third with 47. All together, 42 teams scored at the regional meet.

State qualifiers on the girls team include Cameo Cedarleaf in the 400 meter dash, 4x200 relay, and the 4x400 relay. Chaney Cedarleaf will be competing in the 3200 meter run and the 4x800 relay. Keri Heckman is part of three qualifying relay teams. Heckman will run on the 4x200, 4x100, and 4x400 relay teams in Columbus.

Annie Hemmelgarn qualified in the 800 meter run. Margaret Hemmelgarn qualified in both the 1600 and 4x800 relay. Anna Kohne is part of the qualifying 4x100 relay team. Anna Larger is a member of the qualifying 4x200 and 4x100 teams. Maria Niekamp advances in both the 3200 meter run and the 4x800 relay.

Taylor Roth is a qualifier in the 800 meter run, 4x800 relay, and the 4x400 relay. Kyle Williams will be running in Columbus in the 100 meter dash, and both the 4x200 and 4x100 relays. Ava Stammen is part of the 4x400 relay team. Kayla Lamm qualified in the high jump.

On the boys side, Minster placed tied for sixth with 29 points. Marion Local won with 72 points. Jack Grieshop qualified for the State Championship in both the 800 meter run and the 4x800 relay team. Ryan Halpin, Will Knapke, and Nick Prenger are all part of the 4x800 meter relay team. Will Frimel qualified in the shot put for the Wildcats.
